Equal Rights Trust Organization (ERTO) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization registered under No: 4957 in the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. It is dedicated to supporting and promoting equality for sustainable development in Afghanistan and other deserving countries. ERTO facilitates local communities in managing their own development process. The organization comprises around 200 professional staff, all holding minimum Bsc degrees with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Its core thematic areas include:

  • Emergency response during crisis situations (shelter, protection, health, food, water, sanitation & hygiene).
  • Natural Resource Management; specifically, the development of Small Scale Enterprises for women.
  • Provision of agriculture irrigation system facilities to aid in their development.
  • Delivery of social services through workshops of varying scales.
  • Social services aimed at enhancing urban development.
  • Provision of expert staff to offer technical support to municipalities in Afghanistan, including property technical survey and data collection, and training on the utilization of collected data for diverse objectives, ultimately enhancing municipal revenue for better urban development.

Job Brief:

The Grant Coordinator/Proposal Writer plays a pivotal role in preparing proposals by identifying concepts, gathering and formatting information, and obtaining necessary approvals. This role demands adeptness in various industries to craft clear, concise documents suggesting actionable ideas. Key attributes for success include the ability to write effectively under stringent deadlines, organizational prowess, and the knack for succinct expression.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster strong relationships with existing donors and actively seek out new donor prospects.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills to secure proposal approval while ensuring donor satisfaction.
  • Identify and clarify opportunities and needs to determine proposal concepts, involving studying requests for proposals (RFPs) and attending strategy meetings.
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval.
  • Gather proposal information by identifying sources, coordinating submissions and collections, and communicating associated risks.
  • Develop proposals by assembling comprehensive information, including project objectives, implementation strategies, timelines, staffing, budgets, and performance standards.
  • Prepare presentations by evaluating content and coordinating printing activities.
  • Maintain high-quality results by adhering to proposal-writing standards and utilizing proposal support databases.
  • Obtain necessary approvals by reviewing proposals with key stakeholders and project managers.
  • Continuously enhance proposal-writing results through process evaluation and redesign, implementing necessary changes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining professional networks.
  • Contribute to achieving organizational goals by proactively addressing new challenges and identifying opportunities to add value.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in proposal writing or a relevant role.
  • Minimum requirement of a Master’s degree.
  • Understanding of various business functions such as HR, Finance, and Marketing.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
  • Experience in fundraising activities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Familiarity with IT/Business infrastructure and office automation.
  • Strong presentation, written communication, and graphic design skills.
  • Ability to solve problems, meet deadlines, and drive process improvements.
  • Excellent research skills and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of ERTO.
